Are you unplugging your appliances to save money?

ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) – Today’s 98.3 TRY social dilemma came from Joanne. Here is his email:

Hi Jaime, with everything being so expensive now, especially gas and electricity, I’ve started unplugging EVERYTHING in my house if it’s not in use. That includes the microwave, washer/dryer, chargers, lights, you name it, I unplug it. The other day I reminded my son to unplug the microwave after using it and said “oh wow hope you enjoy that penny saving”. To which I replied, I hope you like going to college!! Anyway, my husband is following this plan, but he’s not thrilled, and my kids are definitely not with me, but I think it’s important to save every penny we can right now . I wonder if other people are doing it now. Please use this as your dilemma. Thank you ~ Jane.

I remember when I was a kid, my parents did that. I thought it was silly at the time, but now that I’m paying the bills, I don’t think it’s so silly anymore. I’d be lying if he told you that I remember to do this all the time, but I try to unplug devices that aren’t going to be used all day.

What do you think? Are you unplugging appliances to try and save money these days, or do you find it silly? Let’s help Cheryl out and let me know about the TRY the Facebook page.
