Do you put gifts under the tree before Christmas Eve?

ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) – Today’s 98.3 TRY social dilemma came from Lyla. It’s all about where to put the Christmas presents. Here is his email:

Hi Jaime. I was just wondering something. My husband and I argue about this every year. Most of the time I win, but this year he wants what he wants. I’ve told friends about it and they too are divided. Here is my question. After buying your Christmas presents for family and friends, and wrapping them, where do you put them? Are they hidden in a closet somewhere or do you put them under the tree. We NEVER put gifts under the tree we buy ourselves until Christmas morning. It was my family’s tradition and I still want to keep it. The idea is to leave as much room as possible for Santa Claus to place gifts under the tree. Plus, there’s the whole surprise of what the freebies are. If you let people see the shape of the box, they might be able to guess the gift, and I think the anticipation is part of the fun of Christmas. So never any gifts under the tree at our house before Santa Claus has brought his. But my husband’s tradition was very different, with gifts under the tree whenever they were wrapped and ready. And after talking with several friends, they feel that too. They say it is something that adds to the fun of Christmas. I get it, but I still think it’s more fun to wait until Christmas morning. So I thought I’d ask you. Put your presents under the tree all through December, or wait until Santa has brought his presents. thank you very much Jaime. Happy Holidays

Well, I’m with Lyla. My tradition was also not to give gifts under the tree when I was a kid too, so Santa got the first shot. But now it’s more because the cats and the dog would tear them up before Christmas morning. So Santa Claus first, then our gifts.
