Is it okay to eat smelly food for lunch at work?

ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) – Today’s 98.3 TRY social dilemma came from Jon and it’s about food at work. Here is his email:

Hi Jaime, I’m almost 50 and have worked in corporate offices most of my life. I think co-workers are really unfair to any employee who uses the microwave in the dining room to reheat their fry they brought from home for lunch. They complain to heaven, which makes the poor man trying to enjoy his lunch uncomfortable. I understand that it might “smell” bad for some people, but I think they have to be careful for those of us who like fish. And NO, I don’t think people who want to eat fish for lunch at work should be “thoughtful” of co-workers who act like little babies and bring something else for lunch. I think people need to grow and relax. Just my sincere opinion. If I owned the business, I’d post a huge sign on the dining room door “it’s totally okay to reheat anything you want in the microwave, including fish, shrimp , curry dishes, Brussels sprouts, etc. Have a nice lunch!” This is America! Take care Sincerely,

Jon

Wow, okay, well, I respect Jon’s opinion, but I have to say I disagree with her. I want people to be able to enjoy their lunch too. But I also think you have to take into account that this is a place of work and not a home. For example, in our workplace, customers come and go and it wouldn’t look good if the building smelled like fish or Brussels sprouts. I love a good fish fry, but I wouldn’t eat it for lunch. But that’s just my opinion.

What do you think? Do you think Jon is right about the fish and other “smelly” lunch options? Let’s help him and let me know TRY the Facebook page.
