Is it strange that people ask for a wedding invitation?

ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) – Friday’s 98.3 TRY social dilemma came from Candi and is about wedding invitations. Here is the mail :

Hi Jaime !!

I have a social dilemma for you! My niece Kelly, in Minnesota, was married to his wife last Thursday. Instead of sitting down together and making a guest list, Kelly posted on Facebook that if you want an invite, send her your request with your address. Gulp… are we becoming? “Asking” to be invited ??? Needless to say, no invitations, no wedding cards from me and my husband! I do not subscribe to the laziness of today’s society. I am old school! Help me with this Jaime!

Thank you!

Well, when it comes to the wedding invitation, that seems lazy to me too. I am not sure I understand the reasoning behind it. When I throw a party that is meaningful to me, especially a wedding, a big birthday, or something like that, there are definite people that I want to be there. Simply tossing it out like an “if you wanna come let me know” sounds wrong… like friends and family aren’t that important. I would feel weird to ask for an invite, but it’s me.

What do you think? Is it okay to do that, or do you think it’s also lazy? Let us know on the NEWS10 Facebook page or let Jaime know on the TRY Facebook page.
