Should a buffet restaurant charge more for overweight people?

ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) – Today’s 98.3 TRY social dilemma is quite interesting. Look at this.

Hi Jaime. I have a question that I asked everyone and I would really like to hear your audience’s opinion. Thank you in advance. Two couples, myself and my partner plus another couple, went to a local Chinese buffet restaurant. We asked for two checks for the table. We were on a check and the other couple was on their own check. At the end of the meal, we were gathering our cash and cards to pay and noticed that their bill was higher than ours. We all had the same buffet and we all drink the same drinks. When the waiter arrived we asked him about the discrepancy as to why they were charged more than us. Considerably more. The waiter acted like she didn’t understand us and walked away so we went back to the front podium where the cash register was and asked the hostess the same question. The lady standing there had no qualms telling us they were big people overeating so they charged dinner price for lunch for the heavier people. Needless to say, we were shocked and disgusted by their actions. Our friends actually ate LESS than my skinny boyfriend! I don’t think it should be legal. What do you think? Can’t wait to hear what people think Thank you.

Tammie

WOW this is amazing!! I can’t believe this is legal. Was there a sign somewhere? Was there a ladder that people had to stand on? I think it’s awful.

What do you think? Let’s help Tammy out and let me know about the TRY the Facebook page.
