Would you buy something you hate if the $$ was for charity?

ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) – Today’s TRY 98.3 social dilemma came from Helen. Here is his email:

Hi Jaime. I had a real dilemma this weekend and I wonder what others would have done. I can tell you that my husband was very angry with me for what I did. Here is what happened. I love going to garage sales, garage sales, estate sales, you know what I mean. My husband is not a fan so I usually go alone or with friends. Last Saturday, I saw that there was a garage sale two blocks from where I live. I went to look around but didn’t see anything worth buying. I also happened to be the only one there at the time, which is odd since usually garage sales are very popular where I live. Anyway, I was about to leave without buying anything, then I saw a sign behind the saleswoman that said all proceeds would go to her grandson’s cancer treatments. So of course I started looking around and bought a really ugly lamp that she was selling for $20. I gave her $40 for it, and she took it. I took the lamp home and explained to my husband and he was so angry. He said it was all probably a scam. I don’t think… at least I hope not. What would you have done in this situation? I can’t wait to hear. Thank you I like

Well, I’m with Helen all the way. I probably would have given him $50. And if the woman cheats, well, it’s on her. At least I would know that I had done the right thing. That’s my point of view anyway.

What do you think? What would you have done? Would you be mad at your spouse or would you be glad they helped you. Let’s help Helen and let me know TRY the Facebook page.
