Is it offensive if a man tells a woman to “drive carefully?”

ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) – Today’s 98.3 TRY Social Dilemma came from Patricia and I find it interesting. I think you also. Here is the mail :

Hi Jaime. I have a serious pet peeve. It’s more than that… it makes me furious. I HATE when a man says “Drive Safe” or “Text me when you get home so I know you got home safe”. It’s insulting and what he’s really saying is, “You’re a woman and I don’t think you know how to get home safely, because you can’t drive.” Society has always put extra pressure on women when it comes to driving. Men need to stop saying “drive carefully” to women as soon as possible. I’m a better driver than most men in my life. I don’t walk around telling them to “drive carefully”. It’s 2022. My friends say I think about it too much, but I don’t. Whether you are male or female has nothing to do with whether you are a good driver or not. I hope you will use this as your dilemma for men to know the deal. Thank you

Wow. I don’t mind when someone tells me to drive carefully. I consider it a nice gesture. And I do it for others too, men and women. Am I sexist without even knowing it?

What do you think? Let me know on the TRY the Facebook page.
